Gardaí in Salthill, Galway are investigating a single vehicle road traffic collision which occurred at approximately 1.15a.m. this morning, Sunday 1st March, 2020 in the townland of Porridgetown, Oughterard, Co Galway.
A young female (aged 16 years) was fatally injured when the car she was a passenger in stuck a wall. She died at the scene. Her body has been removed to the Mortuary in University Hospital Galway where a post mortem will take place. The driver of the car (a male aged 21 years) was seriously injured and taken from the scene by ambulance to UHG. (His injuries are not thought to be life threatening.)
