Gardaí attached to the Divisional Protective Services Unit (DPSU) in Kevin Street Garda Station have charged a man for the possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material.
As part of an ongoing investigation which began in September 2018 and was assisted by detectives from the Garda National Cyber Crime Bureau (GNCCB), a man, aged in his 30s, was arrested yesterday morning, Monday 27th July 2020 at 9am.
He was taken to Irishtown Garda Station where he was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
The man has since been charged for possession of child abuse material and distribution of child abuse material on a number of occasions between December 2017 and July 2020.
He will appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice (Court 4) this afternoon, Tuesday 28th July 2020.
