The deceased man has been officially identified as Francis Dunne, 64 years. A post-mortem examination has been completed by Locum State Pathologist, Dr. Heidi Okkers, and a preliminary report furnished to investigating Gardaí. Details are not being provided for operational reasons.
Gardaí have now launched a murder enquiry and continue to appeal to anyone who can assist the investigation to come forward. We are appealing to both motorists and pedestrians who may have been in the Boreenmanna Road area since Christmas day to come forward. We are particularly appealing to motorists to make any camera footage (including dash-cam) from the area available to Gardaí.
