A post-mortem has been completed on the body of a 46-year-old male who died as a result of a fatal assault on Castlecomer Road, Kilkenny in the early hours of Thursday morning, 6th February 2020.
The results of the post-mortem will not be disclosed for operational reasons.
The male, aged in his 30s, who was arrested in relation to this incident continues to be detained in Kilkenny Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have information in relation to this incident to come forward. Gardaí are particularly appealing to anyone who was in the Castlecomer Road / Gas House Lane area between 3.30am and 5.30am on Thursday, 6th February 2020, including any road users who may have camera footage. Gardaí in Kilkenny are investigating the fatal assault of a 46-year-old male, which occurred in a domestic premises on Castlecomer Road, Kilkenny at approximately 4.00am on Thursday, 6th February 2020.
Emergency services also attended the scene and the male was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital, he was pronounced dead shortly before 11pm last night, Thursday 6th February 2020. A male in his 30s and a female in her 20s were arrested in relation to this incident by investigating Gardaí. The female was released without charge yesterday, Thursday 6th February 2020 pending a file to the Director of Public Prosecutions, the male in his 30s remains in Garda custody under the provisions of Section 4, Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Kilkenny Garda Station,
