On Sunday 19th April 2020 at approximately 10:55pm, a man in his early 30s was stopped by a vehicle which had a red and blue light flashing in the front windscreen at Luttrelstown Way, Castleknock, Dublin 15.
The two male occupants identified themselves as members of An Garda Síochána and began querying the man. When identification was sought from the two males, they attempted to drive away but returned to the scene when they observed the injured party recording the vehicle's registration.
One of the offending males alighted the car and assaulted the man before returning to the vehicle which took off at speed in the direction of Carpenterstown, Dublin 15.
Following initial investigations, local Gardaí located the offending vehicle at Mulberry Park, Castleknock and it was seized for technical examination.
Two men (aged in their early 20s and late teens) were arrested on Monday 20th April 2020 and detained at Blanchardstown Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
The man in his late teens was charged with an offence under the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act 1997 and bailed to appear at the Criminal Courts of Justice, Dublin, on Friday 1st May 2020.
The man in his early 20s was charged with offences under the Road Traffic Act and bailed to appear at Blanchardstown District Court on Tuesday 12th May 2020.
A full investigation file will be forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
