Gardaí in Killarney are appealing for witnesses following a serious collision involving a cyclist and a car in Co Kerry.
At approximately 11.30am a male cyclist in his 30s was seriously injured when he was struck by a car on the N71 at Eric, Molly's Gap. He was removed by Ambulance to University Hospital Kerry. (His injuries are described serious but not thought to be life threatening.) It’s understood he was taking part in a cycling event at the time of the collision.
The driver of the car, a man in 50s, was arrested by investigating Garda for suspected dangerous driving. He has since been released is expected to appear before Killarney District Court in the coming days charged in connection with the investigation.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and in particular to motorists who were traveling on the route at the time to make any dash cam footage available to investigators.
