Update - Fatal Stabbing in Dundrum, Dublin on the 10/5/19

A male teenager has presented himself at a South Dublin Garda Station this afternoon, Saturday 11th May 2019, and is currently assisting investigating Gardaí with their enquiries in connection with a fatal stabbing incident which occurred last night, Friday May 10th 2019. Investigating Gardaí are now following a definite line of enquiry. Investigating Gardaí are currently not considering any racial motive in relation to this ongoing investigation.

The Post Mortem examination is currently being carried out by Deputy State Pathologist Dr.Linda Mulligan. Gardaí continue to examine the scene of the incident.

Superintendent Martin McGonnell has requested privacy for the family of the deceased at this time and a Family Liaison Officer has been appointed to the family. Gardaí continue to engage with the local community in the area of the incident and the wider community of all parties involved.

Gardaí at Dundrum, Dublin 14 are appealing to the public for information in relation to a fatal stabbing which occurred last evening, Friday 10th May 2019. An 18 year old male (not 19yrs as previously stated) received fatal injuries following a stabbing incident at Finsbury Park, Dundrum at approximately 8.10pm.

It is understood from initial enquiries that a number of people were in the vicinity at the time of the incident.

A Post Mortem examination is expected to be carried out later today. The scene is currently preserved and a full Garda technical examination will take place this morning.
