At approximately 3.15 p.m. yesterday, Tuesday 26th February 2019 Gardaí responded to a shooting incident in the car park of The M1 Retail Park, Mell, Drogheda, Co. Louth. A male was injured having been shot whilst sitting in the passenger seat of a white Vauxhall Astra, (12 LH registration).
The suspects in this incident are believed to have left the scene in a black Volkswagen Passat 132 D 18498, which was later found burnt out at the car park at Seapoint, Co. Louth at 7.15 p.m.
The male who was injured in this incident was in the company of two other males at that time. He remains in a critical condition at Our lady of Lourdes Hospital.
Gardaí in Drogheda are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to contact the incident room at Drogheda Garda Station on 041- 9874200, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station. Investigating Gardaí are particularly anxious to speak to anyone who was present in the M1 retail park between 12.30pm and 3.30pm and may have seen the cars mentioned. Anyone who has mobile phone footage or dash cam footage and to any person who was in the Seapoint car park between 3.30pm and 7.15pm.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a shooting incident in Drogheda, Co. Louth this afternoon 26th February 2019.
At about 2.45 pm a man in his 30s left a premises in the M1 Retail Park in Drogheda and got into a white Vauxhall Astra with two other men. A black Volkswagen Passat with the partial registration 132 D pulled up close to the Astra and a number of shots were fired into the Astra. The man in his 30s, a passenger in the car, was struck at least once. The other two occupants were not injured.
The driver of the white Astra managed to drive from the scene and went to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital where the injured man is being treated for serious injuries.
The black Passat also drove from the scene and this car has not yet been located.
Gardaí have sealed off two crime scenes and a technical examination is underway at the M1 Retail Park and at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital where the white Astra is located. An incident room has been set up at Drogheda Garda Station.
Gardaí are asking anyone who was in the M1 Retail Park this afternoon between 1pm and 3pm to contact them. We are also seeking information on the whereabouts of the Black Passat used in the shooting.

A man in his 30s is being treated in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital following a shooting incident at the M1 Retail Park in Drogheda, shortly before 3pm on 26th February 2019. The condition of the man in not known at this time.
The scene of the incident is sealed off by Gardaí and an investigation in underway.
