Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following an assault incident in Dungarvan, Co. Waterford.
Gardaí and emergency services were called to the scene of an altercation outside a nightclub on Davitts Quay, Dungarvan shortly after 2am this morning (27/5/2018). A man in his 30s sustained a head injury during the incident. He was treated at the scene and removed by Ambulance to University Hospital Waterford and has since been transferred to University Hospital Cork. (His condition is understood to be critical.)
A man in his 20s was arrested this afternoon by investigating Gardaí and is currently detained under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Dungarvan Station. (He can be held for up to 24 hours.) A technical examination of the scene was carried out by local scenes of crime Gardaí.
