An Garda Síochána is hosting a two-day conference of senior police officers from over 35 European countries on how to prevent and respond to critical incidents.
More than 80 delegates responsible for strategic level policing in capital cities will hear speakers from An Garda Síochána, as well as senior police officers from cities such as Paris, Berlin, Brussels and Stockholm, on strategically responding to a critical incident and how community policing can play an important role in preventing such incidents.
The 40th Capital Policing Conference takes place in Dublin Castle today and tomorrow, and is chaired by Assistant Commissioner, Dublin Metropolitan Region, Patrick Leahy.
"This conference brings together best practice from across Europe on how senior police officers can manage critical incidents, the aftermath of such events, and engage in a policing approach that can assist in preventing these events,” said Assistant Commissioner Leahy.
Senior policing officers from the following countries are attending the Conference: Albania, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Republic of Croatia, Republic of Kosovo, Republic of Macedonia, Russian Federation, Serbia, Scotland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Vatican City.
