At approximately 7.30pm on the 28/04/18 two gardai were attempted to conduct a search of a male on Ballyogan Avenue, D18. During the course of attempting to search this male a large crowd gathered outside a house and a metal baseball bat was produced. One of the gardai was hit with the bat a number of times causing injuries to his body, head and face. The garda was taken to Tallaght Hospital where he remains.
In a follow up operation shortly after midnight a residence was search on Ballyogan Avenue by gardai from Dun Laoghaire supported by Armed Support Units. A male in his 50s was arrested along with a number of items seized. The male is currently detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at Dun Laoghaire Garda Station. A garda was also bitten by a dog during the search and required hospital treatment.
