Gardaí have seized firearms and an assortment of weapons during a major search operation in Cork City. A total of 16 properties were searched during operations in the Knocknaheeny area as part of ongoing investigations. The operation was led by Gardaí from Gurranabraher Garda station supported by units from across the Southern Region including the Regional Support Unit and other Specialist Units. Officers from Revenue Customs Service were also involved.
During the searches Gardaí recovered and seized firearms and ammunition along with slash hooks, knives and other assorted weapons. Two caravans and a 4x4 vehicle were also seized. Property recovered included jewellery and cash.
Three men (one teen and two 40s) were arrested during the operation. They are currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 in Togher and Bridewell Garda Stations.
