On the 3rd March, 2017, Gardaí attached to the Dublin Metropolitan Region, South Central Division carried out seven planned searches as part of an operation set up to target organised crime in the South Central Division. Gardaí from the Division, supported by Gardaí from the Armed Support Unit, Emergency Response Unit, and Operation Support Unit (Mounted and Dog Units) carried out the searches.
As a result; two people were arrested for drug offences. One person was arrested on foot of a Bench Warrant.
The two men arrested for drugs offences are both in their 30 and are detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 at Kevin Street Garda station. The man in his 20s arrested on foot of a bench warrant has been brought before the courts.
In total €22,000 worth of drugs were seized and one .22 Rifle recovered during the operation.
