Gardaí in Westport are investigating a fatal road traffic collision which occurred on the 26th March 2017.
At approximately 4.20am Gardaí and Emergency services were called to the scene of a single vehicle collision on the N59 in Kilbride, Newport Co Mayo. It's understood the car left the road and struck a wooden fence. A man in his 30s was pronounced dead at the scene. He was the sole occupant of the car. His body has since been removed to Mayo University Hospital for a post-mortem examination. The local Coroner has been notified.
The road remains closed to facilitate Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place. Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact Westport Garda Station on 098-50237 or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.
