Fatal Assault Incident Tramore, Co. Waterford 24/6/2017
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following an alleged assault incident in Tramore, Co. Waterford on Saturday the 24th June 2017.
The incident happened at approximately 2.15am during an altercation on Lower Strand Street in the town.
A 54-year-old man was discovered unconscious on the street and was taken to University Hospital Waterford for treatment. He was pronounced dead in the early hours of this morning 25/6/2017. The State Pathologist has been notified and a post mortem examination is expected to take place in University Hospital Waterford later today.
A man in his 20s was arrested at the scene by investigating Gardaí and detained at Tramore Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 for questioning.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or to anyone who was in the Lower Strand Street area between 1.30 and 2.30am on Saturday 24th June to contact them at Tramore Garda Station on 051 391620 or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.The investigation is ongoing.
