Gardaí from Athlone have arrested a 38-year-old man following a robbery at a bookmakers shop in Baylough, Athlone.
At approximately 3.40pm a lone male armed with a knife entered the shop and threatened staff. He took an amount of cash and fled the scene in a car. No one was injured during the incident.<_o3a_p _rdeditor_exists="1">
During a follow up operation involving local Garda and Traffic Units a man was arrested a short time later. A car and quantity of cash was recovered.<_o3a_p _rdeditor_exists="1">
The man is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Athlone Garda Station.<_o3a_p _rdeditor_exists="1">
