Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in Co. Westmeath, Mullingar on the 15th November 2016.
The collision occurred at approximately 3.45pm between a car and a pedal cyclist, the pedal cyclist a man in his 70s was fatally injured in a collision. The collision occurred on the N52 , 4 miles north of Mullingar.
The man in his 70's was pronounced dead at the scene.The body of the deceased was removed to Midlands Regional Hospital with a post mortem examination expected to take place tomorrow in Tullamore hospital.
The driver of the car (a female in her 70's) was uninjured.
The scene of the collision is being examined by Garda forensic collision investigators and the road will remain closed overnight.
