Gardai in Portarlington investigating the murder of Gerard Eglington (27yrs) that occurred in the Kilnacourt Woods Housing Estate on the morning of the 24th September 2012 have today (7th November 2016) arrested two males (21 and 34 years) as part of their investigation into the murder.
Both were arrested this morning and are being detained at Portlaoise Garda station under the provisions of section 30 Offences Against the State Act 1039 as amended.

Gardai in Portarlington, Co Laois investigating the murder of Gerard Eglington (27yrs) that occurred in the Kilnacourt Woods Housing Estate this morning at approximately 8.30am today the 24th Sept 2012, are appealing for witnesses;
1. who may have seen unusual or suspicious activity in or around the Kilnacourt Housing estate between 7.30am and 8.30am this morning or in the past number of days.
2.for anyone who may have seen a dark blue Mazda 6 leave the estate at speed shortly after the incident. This car was later discovered burnt out approximately 1km form the scene of the shooting on the Lea Rd.

Both scenes have been preserved for technical examination. The Post Mortem is ongoing at the moment.

Gardai in Portarlington Co Laois are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in the Kilnacourt Woods Housing Estate this morning at approximately 8.30am.
A male in his 20’s was serious injured in the shooting and taken to Tullamore General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The scene has been preserved and the Garda Technical Bureau and the Office of the State Pathologist have been notified.
