Arrest in relation to the Murder of Philip Finnegan on the 16/11/16

At approximately 1pm today (16th November 2016) a male in his thirties was arrested in Portlaoise in connection with the murder of Phillip Finnegan in August 2016 at Rahin Wood Co Kildare.

 He is  detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended at Leixlip Garda Station.

Gardaí in Leixlip investigating the murder of Philip Finnegan, whose body was discovered in Rahin Wood on the 2nd September 2016 continued to appeal for witnesses or anyone with any information to contact Leixlip Garda Station 01-6667800, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
 
Philip was reported missing from his home at Mary Aikenhead House, Dublin 8 since Wednesday the 10thof August 2016.
 
The post mortem has finished and Gardaí will not be disclosing the findings for operational reasons.
 
The scene remains sealed off for a technical examination.

Gardaí at Leixlip are appealing for information following the discovery of a body of a male in Rahin Wood, Co. Kildare yesterday evening, 2nd September 2016.

The location remains sealed off to facilitate an on going examination by members of the Garda Technical Bureau. A post-mortem examination by the Assistant State Pathologist Dr. Bolster commenced this afternoon at Naas General Hospital and will continue tomorrow (4/9/2016). The process of identifying the deceased is on going.

A case conference was held at Leixlip Garda Station and an incident room has been established.

Speaking at Leixlip Garda Station this evening, Inspector Paul Dolan said ‘Investigating Gardaí are appealing for information and in particular to anyone who visited Rahin Wood near Carbury, Co. Kildare, during the month of August to come forward and contact the Incident Room at Leixlip Garda Station.
