Gardaí from the Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau supported by the Special Crime Task Force have seized cannabis herb with an estimated value of €300,000 (analysis pending) and made two arrests during operations in Counties Kildare and Dublin.
A large quantity of cannabis herb was discovered when Gardaí stopped and searched a car in Kilcock this afternoon (12/11/2016). The occupant of the car, a man in his 40s, was arrested at the scene. He is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 at Leixlip Garda Station.
During a follow up search a further quantity of cannabis herb was discovered at a house in the north inner city area of Dublin. A woman aged in late 40s was arrested at the scene. She is detained at Store Street Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996. They can both be detained for up to seven days.
Today’s operation is part of ongoing investigations targeting the sale and supply of drugs in the Dublin and Kildare regions.
