Gardai wish to advise road users that it is envisaged that upcoming Luas Works will cause serious delays to traffic entering the City and drivers are advised to plan for alternative routes in advance with special emphasis on traffic entering the City from the North Quays on both Saturday/Sunday on 7th. and 14th. May 2016.
There will be a number of traffic restrictions in the coming weeks to facilitate construction of Luas Cross City.
• O’Connell Bridge (northbound), Burgh Quay, Bachelors Walk and Westmoreland Street will all be reduced to one lane from 21.00hrs on Saturday the 7th of May until 12.00hrs approximately on the 8th of May. In addition, there will be no right turn from O’Connell Bridge onto Eden Quay during these times.
• Fleet Street (from Westmoreland Street to D’Olier Street) will be closed to vehicles on Sunday the 8th of May.
• O’Connell Bridge (northbound), Burgh Quay, Bachelors Walk and Westmoreland Street will all be reduced to one lane from 21.00hrs on Saturday the 14th of May until 12.00hrs approximately on the 15th of May.
• There will be a revised road layout to facilitate construction work on College Street, College Green and Westmoreland Street from the 9th of May with only one lane in each direction.
• Road users should bear in mind that from the 21st of May until the end of July, the Luas Red Line (Tallaght) will terminate at Jervis and there will be no Luas services between Jervis and Connolly or The Point. Dublin Bus will provide a special bus service which will stop near to the existing Luas stops. The disruption is necessary to facilitate the construction of the Luas Cross City lines which cross the existing Luas Red Line. There will be substantial traffic restrictions in and around O’Connell Street and the Talbot Street/Marlborough Street/ Abbey Street area during these works.
