Gardai in Donnybrook investigating an armed robbery at the Post Office at Woodbine Park, Blackrock on the 19/1/16 have arrested a male.
At approximately 2.30pm on the 19/1/16 a masked and armed man entered the Post Office at Woodbine Park, Blackrock. He threatened customers and staff and fired a number of shots before leaving the scene on foot. No one in the Post Office was injured. As he fled the scene he was challenged by a male passer-by. Following a struggle a firearm, described as a hand gun, was recovered. The raider managed to flee the scene on foot. The passer-by sustained minor injuries during the altercation.
On Monday the 2/5/16 Gardai in Donnybrook arrested a male in his 40’s in connection with this investigation. He was detained under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act at Donnybrook Garda Station.
The male is due to appear before Court No 2, The Criminal Courts of Justice this afternoon in connection with this robbery.
