Gardai in Carlow investigating an armed robbery of a Post Office in Leighlinbridge, County Carlow on the 1st March 2016 have charged two males in connection with the incident. They will appear before Carlow District Ct at 10.30am this morning the 3rd March 2016.

Gardaí have arrested two men, both aged 27 years, in connection with a robbery that occurred at Leighlinbridge Post Office, County Carlow this morning Tuesday 1st March 2016 at approximately 10am.
Two men, one believed to be armed with a firearm and the other in possession of a hammer, entered Leighlinbridge Post Office this morning. They threatened and assaulted a member of staff before leaving the post office with an amount of cash. Both men were wearing balaclavas and fled the scene in a car described as being a white coloured Honda.
Gardaí from the Thomastown District were diverted from a separate operation and assisted local Gardaí, setting up a number of checkpoints, establishing a cordon around the general area.
Gardaí then received a report that a white car was being set on fire near the Burrin Manor housing estate, Carlow. The two men were arrested a short distance from this scene and are currently detained at Carlow and Thomastown Garda Stations under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939-’98 as amended.
An amount of cash has been recovered by Gardaí.
