Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal traffic collision in Co. Laois on the 7th of March 2016.
At approximately 8.30pm a 64-year-old male pedestrian was seriously injured when he was struck by a car on the N80 at Dysart, Portlaoise. He was treated at the scene by emergency services personnel and removed to Portlaoise General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the car, a man in his 50s, was uninjured.
A stretch of the N80 between Stradbally and Bloomfield is currently closed to traffic and local diversions are in place. Garda Forensic Collision Investigators are due to examine the scene this morning. The Coroner has been notified.
