Gardai have seized drugs with an estimated street value of up to €120,000 as part of an Intelligence led operation tackling the sale and supply of controlled drugs in the South City area of Dublin.
Gardaí from the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, the South Central Crime Task Force attached to Kevin Street Garda Station and the Donnybrook Drugs Unit were involved in the operation.
Gardai conducted a planned stop of a car on Camden Street this morning. During the search of the car cocaine with an estimated street value of up to €20,000 (pending analysis) was seized and two males, aged 35 and 49 years, were arrested. The males are currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at Donnybrook and Kevin Street Garda Stations.
In a follow up operation a house was searched in Ranelagh and cannabis herb with an estimated street value of up to €100,000 (pending analysis) was seized. A 27 year old female was arrested at the scene and is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at Irishtown Garda Station.
These operations use advanced analytical and intelligence methods to disrupt criminals and dismantle their networks. Drug seizures play a critical role in targeting the livelihood of criminals and reducing their ability to carry out illegal activities. Drug seizures also help protect communities from the devastating impact of drugs and the associated criminality.
