Gardaí in Carrick on Shannon, Co Leitrim investigating a serious assault on a 30 year old male are appealing for witnesses.
Just before 4am on Sunday, the 17th July 2016, Gardaí in Carrick on Shannon received a report that a male had been assaulted and was lying on the Main Street in Carrick on Shannon. When Gardaí arrived at the scene the found an unresponsive male lying on the road, and ambulance attended the scene and the injured male was conveyed to Sligo University Hospital. His condition is described as critical.
The incident occurred before 4am when the injured party was in an altercation with a group of people (both male and female) on the footpath on the Main Street (near the junction of Bridge Street) it then continued onto the road. Gardaí have interviewed a number of witnesses and viewed CCTV covering the area.
Gardaí in Carrick on Shannon are appealing for witnesses in particular anyone who may have picked up a group of people around 4am in that area of the town or anyone with any information to contact them on 071 9650510, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
