On Sunday 17th July 2016, shortly before 4am, Gardaí received a report that a man was lying on the Main Street in Carrick on Shannon, Co. Leitrim.
When Gardaí arrived at the scene they found an unresponsive man lying on the road. An ambulance attended the scene and the injured man was taken to Sligo University Hospital. He was subsequently transferred to Beaumont Hospital and his condition remains critical.
The incident occurred before 4am at Main Street (near the junction of Bridge Street). Gardaí have interviewed a number of witnesses and viewed CCTV covering the area.
Gardaí in Carrick on Shannon Garda Station are again appealing for witnesses in particular anyone who was in the Main Street, Bridge Street areas between 3.45am and 4.45am or taxi operators who may have picked up a group of people between 4.00am amd 4.15am or anyone with any information to contact them on 071 9650510, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
