Due to Luas Cross City construction works along O’Connell Bridge, the following restrictions will be in place for motorists:
North Quays:
Motorists will not be able to access O’Connell Bridge or Eden Quay from Bachelors Walk.
Motorists will have limited access to O’Connell Street from Bachelors Walk.
South Quays:
Motorists will not be able to access O’Connell Bridge or Aston Quay from Burgh Quay.
Motorists will be diverted left from Burgh Quay onto D’Olier Street.
O’Connell Bridge – Northbound and Southbound:
There is limited access to O’Connell Bridge as follows:
When travelling Southbound from O’Connell Street across O’Connell Bridge to D’Olier Street.
When travelling Northbound from Westmoreland Street across O’Connell Bridge onto O’Connell Street.
There are a number of events in and around Dublin City over the coming weekend:
For motorists travelling by car to attend fixtures in either Croke Park or the Aviva Stadium, they are advised to avoid the city centre completely.
To access Croke Park, travel M50 Northbound exiting the M50 at Junctions 6 (Blanchardstown), J5 (Finglas), J4 (Ballymun) or J3 (M1).
Exiting at Junction 7 (Lucan) to access the city centre by the N4 should be avoided.
To access the Aviva Stadium, travel M50 Southbound exiting the M50 at Junction 14 Sandyford.
Motorists intending accessing Dublin City Centre from the N4 or N7, inside the M50 boundary, can expect heavy delays due to the traffic restrictions and should avoid the area and consider alternative routes. Heavy delays can be expected and the use of public transport is recommended.
Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) variable message signs along the motorway network will provide updated advice to motorists regarding any traffic restrictions.
Dublin City Council will be operating its Radio Station, 103.2 FM, broadcasting live from the Traffic Control Centre on Saturday from 1pm to 7pm and on Sunday from 1pm to 6pm, providing up-to-date traffic information.

To facilitate essential Luas Cross City construction works, Dublin’s north and south quays will be closed to eastbound and westbound traffic at O'Connell Bridge, from 8pm on Friday 29th July until 6am on Tuesday 2nd August. In summary, this means that traffic intending on crossing O’Connell Bridge from either the north or south quays will not be able to do so freely and will be forced to follow diversions. Traffic intending on crossing O’Connell Bridge from O’Connell Street or Westmoreland Street will be able to do so however there will be lane restrictions. Traffic delays can be expected.
Major traffic diversions will apply through the city centre but car park and hospital access will be maintained at all times.
An Garda Síochána, in conjunction with Dublin City Council and Luas Cross City will enforce all road diversions during this period and will control all traffic in the vicinity of all diversions.

Due to the road works, AGS expect large traffic delays in and around the city centre. AGS request that motorists only use the North and South Quays for essential journeys, or access.
For any non-essential journeys to Dublin City Centre over the coming Bank Holiday weekend, AGS wish to advise the public to use public transport where available and wish to remind the public that there are a number of Public Transport enhancements which will be available over the weekend, including:
• Free Parking at all DART, Commuter Rail (within Short-Hop Zone) and Luas Park and Ride sites;
• Additional Luas and Dart services; and
• ‘Kids go Free’ on all bus, rail and Luas services in the Dublin area, with a valid Leap Card.
