Gardai in Longford are investigating a 2 vehicle fatal road traffic collision that occurred at (N4) Cloonart, Bornacoola, Co. Longford at approximately 23.50 last night.
An 18 year old male was fatally injured when the car he was travelling in, as a front seat passenger, collided with a tractor. He was brought to Mullingar Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver and other two occupants of the car were also brought to Mullingar Hospital. Their injuries are described as minor (driver and one other passenger) and serious (one passenger). There were four male occupants of the car. The driver of the tractor was uninjured.
This stretch of road is currently closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and Diversions are in place via Roosky for traffic coming from Sligo, and Newtownforbes for traffic travelling from Dublin.
