Update - Body of man discovered in Castletroy, Limerick on the 8/1/16

Gardaí are appealing for information following the discovery of the body of a man in the garden of a house at Briarfield, Castletroy, Limerick this morning, Friday 8th January 2016.

The body of the man remains at the scene and has yet to be been formally identified. Members from the Garda Technical Bureau have arrived on site and the State Pathologist is expected to conduct a preliminary examination of the body tomorrow morning.
 

A case conference was held this afternoon and an incident room has been established at Henry Street Garda Station. The occupants of the house are currently assisting Gardaí with their enquiries. No arrests have been made to date.
 

Speaking this afternoon at Henry Street Garda Station Superintendent Derek Smart appealed to anyone who was in the vicinity of the Briarfield area since Wednesday 30th December and noticed any unusual or suspicious activity to contact them.

Gardaí are investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the body of a man in the garden of a premises at Briarfield, Castletroy, Limerick this morning, Friday 8th January 2016.

Gardaí at Henry Street received a report of a missing person on 6th January 2016. The body was discovered as a result of enquiries carried out regarding this investigation.

The Garda Technical Bureau and the Office of the State Pathologist have been notified.
A case conference is due to take place at Henry Street Garda Station this afternoon at 3pm which will be followed by a media briefing at Henry Street Garda station at 4.30pm this afternoon.
