Gardaí are investigating a fatal road traffic collision that occured in the townland of Gooig, Castleconnell this morning Sunday, 7th February 2016.
At approximately 6.15a.m. a pedestrian was struck by a car and was fatally injured. His body has been removed to University Hospital Limerick and a post mortum will take place. The driver of the car was uninjured.
The road is closed to traffic and local diversions are in place. The scene is currently being examined by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
Gardai are seeking any persons who may have travelled in the townland of Gooig or in the vicinity of Daly's Cross between 6a.m. and 6.30a.m. this morning, to contact them at Henry Street Garda Station on 061 - 212400 or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
