Gardaí are investigating a single vehicle fatal road traffic collision which occurred at Kishawanny, Carbury, Co Kildare today Sunday 21st February 2016 between the hours of 12 midnight and 1.50pm.
The car involved was discovered in a drain off the R402, Carbury - Edenderry Road this afternoon at approximately 1.50pm.
One man, 18 years, sole occupant of the car was pronounced dead at scene. His body was taken to Naas General Hospital. A post mortem is to be arranged.
The road was closed for a period of time to facilitate Garda Forensic Collision Investigators but has since reopened.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information, particularly those who travelled the R402 between Carbury and Edenderry during the hours of 12 midnight and 2pm on 21st February 2016 to contact Leixlip Garda Station on 01 6667800, The Garda Confidential Line, 1800 666111 or any Garda Station.
