Gardai from the Detective Units in Kevin Street and Kilmainham investigating the murder of David Douglas on Bridgefoot Street on the 1/07/16 have arrested a male in his early 40’s this morning.
The male was arrested in the Dublin area and is currently detained under the provisions of Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007 at Kilmainham Garda Station.
This is the 4th arrest in relation to this murder and a male is also currently before the courts.

The man, aged in his mid 50’s, shot on Bridgefoot Street this afternoon has passed away. Gardaí are now investigating his murder.
The man suffered a number of gunshot wounds this afternoon, Friday 1st July 2016 at approximately 4.10pm on Bridgefoot Street, Dublin 8. He was taken to Saint James’ Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The victim was standing on Bridgefoot Street when he was approached by a man, not better described. This man was in possession of a firearm and fired a number of shots, fatally wounding the victim. A firearm was recovered close to the scene by Gardaí and will be forensically examined.
The gunman is believed to have left the scene in a silver/grey coloured Mercedes Benz CLA, registration number 161D26702. This car was driven by a second male, not better described, and was the subject of an unauthorised taking from the Navan Road area on Thursday 23rd June 2016.
This car was discovered, burnt out, at Spitalfields, close to Carman’s Hall, Dublin 8 and has been preserved for technical examination.
An incident room has been established at Kevin Street Garda Station and a Garda Family Liaison Officer has been appointed in this case.
