Gardai in Galway city are investigating a serious assault on a male on Shop St on the 6th September 2015 at approximately 3.30am.
At approximately 3.30am a number of youths became involved in an altercation outside a fast food outlet on Shop St. One of the males (22 years) received a very serious head injury and fell to the ground, when Gardai and ambulance personnel arrived on the scene he was unconscious. He was taken to University hospital Galway where his condition is described as critical. The scene has been preserved for a technical examination.
Gardai are appealing for witnesses in particular anyone who may have been on Shop St between 3.20am and 3.40am on the 6th Sept 2015 or anyone who may have any information to contact Galway Garda station on 091 538000 an incident room has been set up, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
