Gardai in Westport are investigating a single vehicle fatal road traffic collision that occurred at Dugort, Achill at approximately 10pm last night.
A 82 year old male was fatally injured when the car he was driving, and the sole occupant, entered flood water and left the road. He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to Mayo General Hospital in Castlebar.
This stretch of road is currently closed pending an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
