Gardaí in Tralee investigating the serious assault of a man, 24 years, have begun a murder investigation following a post mortem which was carried out today, Saturday 3rd October 2015 at Kerry General Hospital. The results of the post mortem are not been disclosed for operational reasons.
The assault occurred at Kileen Woods, Tralee on Wednesday 30th September 2015 shortly after 10.30pm. Gardaí confirmed that the injured male died last night, Friday 2nd October 2015 at Kerry General Hospital.
Two men, aged in their 20’s and 30’s arrested in connection with this investigation and detained at Tralee and Killarney Garda Stations under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 have both been released without charge and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Investigations are ongoing and investigating Gardaí are appealing for witnesses. They are particularly appealing to anyone who was in the vicinity of Kileen Woods at the time of the incident to contact them.
