Gardai in Ballina, Co Mayo are investigating a single vehicle fatal road traffic collision that occured at Carrowntreila, Ballina at approximately 6.30 p.m. yesterday evening the 21st October 2015.
A male driver(20 year old) was fatally injured when the car he was driving left the road and collided with a tree on the old Ballina to Foxford road(approx 2 miles outside Ballina). He was the sole occupant of the car. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was removed to the Mortuary at Castlebar Hospital where a post mortem is due to take place later today.
The road is currently closed, Garda Forensic Collision investigators will examine the scene this morning the 22nd October and local diversions are in place.
