As part of an intelligence led operation into the illegal sale and supply of controlled drugs in the County Kildare area Gardaí from the Kildare Drugs & Crime Unit assisted by local Gardaí have seized cannabis plants and herb with an estimated value of €700,000, pending analysis.
The seizure was made following the planned search of a premises in the Ard Scoil area of Athy, Co Kildare last night, Monday 5th October 2015 shortly after 11pm.
The premises was found to be a fully functioning 'grow house' and a number of items of drug cultivation paraphernalia were seized.
A man, 43 years, was arrested early this morning in the Athy area and is currently detained at Kildare Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
