Gardaí have seized drugs and arrested two men in an operation yesterday evening in Drogheda, Co. Louth.
As part of an intelligence led operation targeting drug trafficking activities in the border areas under Operation Scale and conducted by Gardaí attached to the Louth Division, supported by the Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau and the Police Service of Northern Ireland, two men were arrested following the interception of two vehicles in Drogheda, County Louth yesterday 24th of November 2015 at approximately 7.30pm.
A large quantity of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of €280,000 was seized and two men aged 57 and 40 remain in custody at Drogheda Garda station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.
During this operation searches were also conducted at a number of premises located in Newry, Co Armagh and the Dublin Region.
