An Garda Síochána continues to work with the International Centre for Missing & Exploited Children (ICMEC) to commemorate International Missing Children’s Day on May 25th. It is hoped that through this global campaign, all missing children in Ireland and indeed worldwide will receive the awareness of a nation and that answers may be found regarding their disappearances.
An Garda Síochána has contributed to the International Poster Campaign this year, highlighting three missing Irish children - Mary Boyle, Ciara Breen and Rory Ahearn.
All missing children remain under active investigation by An Garda Síochána until such time as they are located.
In 2014 An Garda Síochána investigated 7,064 missing children cases, of which on 3 remain still missing. An Garda Síochána recognises that missing children are vulnerable to victimisation, exploitation, violence, criminal activity and in some case self harm. We endeavour to respond immediately to reports of missing children in order to help bring them home safely.

ISPCC Director of Services, Caroline O’Sullivan, today said; "Since the set-up of the Missing Children’s Hotline in 2012 we have worked closely with the Gardaí in the promotion of the service and in supporting young people who have been reported missing. The hotline is there to provide support to children, young people and their families. The first step if you have concerns for the safety or welfare of your missing family member or friend is to file a report with the Gardai.”
