Gardaí at Mallow investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Peter Murphy, 37 years, are appealing for information.
Peter Murphy's body was discovered at his home at Shanavoher, Bweeng, Co. Cork on Saturday 7th February 2015 at approximately 1pm. The scene was preserved and technically examined. A post mortem examination was carried out at Cork University Hospital by the assistant State Pathologist Dr Margot Bolster and established that Mr. Murphy's injuries were inflicted as a result of an assault.
Peter Murphy was last seen alive at his home at Shanavoher, Bweeng, Co. Cork on Thursday 5th February 2015 at approximately 2.30pm.
An incident room has been established at Mallow Garda Station and an investigation into Peter’s death is ongoing. To date over 200 witnesses have been interviewed and in excess of 1200 hours of CCTV have been reviewed.
Speaking at Mallow Garda Station today Superintendent Patrick Mc Carthy outlined "Gardaí in Mallow are still actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Peter Murphy. Numerous enquiries have been undertaken and witnesses interviewed since the investigation commenced and I would like to thank the public in the Mallow/Bweeng area for their assistance to date. I would urge anyone with any information in relation to Peter’s death to contact the incident room at Mallow Garda Station or Crimestoppers.”
