Gardaí are investigating a fatal road traffic collision which occurred at Aucloggeen, Claregalway, County Galway this morning, Sunday 10th May 2015 at approximately 12.30am.
Two pedestrians were struck by a car just off the N17 at Aucloggeen. A female, 24 years, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at scene. Her body was taken to University College Hospital Galway where a post mortem is to be arranged.
The second pedestrian, male, 24 years, was taken to University College Hospital Galway with non life threatening injuries. The driver of the car was uninjured.
The road is currently closed to facilitate Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Diversions are in place.
