Gardaí have discovered cannabis plants and arrested three men following a search at Boytonrath, Boreen, Kileenasteena, New Inn, Co. Tipperary this morning. A cannabis grow house was discovered at one premises and the second premises contained a drying house
The Garda operation included members from Drugs and Detective Units in Tipperary Town, Clonmel Garda Station, Regional Surveillance Unit, Regional Support Unit, Divisional Scene of Crime, Dog Unit (Cork) and Uniform Units from the Tipperary Division.
During the course of the searches a large amount of plants (approximately 1,100 of various maturities) were discovered, a quantity of cannabis herb and a single barrel shotgun were also seized. In total the cannabis seized has an estimated street value, subject to analysis, of €700,000.
Three men, one in his 40s and two in their 50s, were arrested and are currently being detained at Tipperary and Cahir Garda Stations under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.
