Gardaí in Mountmellick are investigating a fatal road traffic collision which occurred in the townland of Clonaghadoo, Mountmellick, Co. Laois this afternoon, Tuesday 9th June, 2015 at approximately 12.30p.m.
A man (mid 60s), suffered fatal injuries when the car he was driving was involved in a collision with another vehicle. He was pronounced dead at scene. His body has been taken to Midlands Regional Hospital, Portlaoise where a post mortem is to be arranged.
The female driver (late 20s) was removed to Tullamore Hospital and her injuries are believed not to be serious.
The road is currently closed to facilitate Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions are in place.
