Gardai in Skibbereen are investigating a 2 vehicle fatal road traffic collision that occurred on the Drimoleague to Skibbereen Road (R593), outside of Skibbereen, this afternoon at approximately 4pm.
A male motorcyclist in his 20’s was fatally injured when his motorcycle was involved in a collision with a car. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the car was taken to Cork University Hospital with injuries described as not life threatening.
This stretch of road is currently closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place.
