Gardai in Baltinglass are investigating a 2 vehicle fatal road traffic collision that occurred at the cross roads in Kilcarney Lower this morning at approximately 10.15am.
A male in his early 60’s was fatally injured when the jeep he was driving was involved in a collision with a truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body removed to Naas Hospital. The driver of the truck, a male in his 20’s, was arrested in connection with the collision and was detained at Baltinglass Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 of The Criminal Justice Act 1984. He has been released without charge this evening and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The road was closed for a time in order to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators but has since reopened.
