On the 30th June, 2015, as part of an ongoing investigation targeting suspected drug traffickers, Officers of Revenue's Customs Service and Gardaí from the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau assisted by local Garda Drug Units carried out two search operations in the Dublin area.
During the operation approximately 72,000 Ecstasy (MDMA) tablets, with an approximate street value of €720,000 (pending analysis), were seized when searches were carried out at north and south inner city locations.
A female and two males, all aged in their 40s, have been arrested by Gardaí as part of the investigation. They are currently detained at Store Street and Kevin Street Garda Stations under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996, and can be held for up to 7 days.
These operations use advanced analytical and intelligence methods to disrupt criminals and dismantle their networks. Drug seizures play a critical role in targeting the livelihood of criminals and reducing their ability to carry out illegal activities. Drug seizures also help protect communities from the devastating impact of drugs and the associated criminality.
