A 58 year old man will appear at a sitting of the Special Criminal Court in the Criminal Courts of Justice Dublin at 8pm this evening 13th July.
As part of ongoing investigations into dissident republican activity members of An Garda Síochána attached to the Special Detective Unit assisted by members of the Emergency Response Unit stopped and searched a car on the Dundalk to Ardee Road on 11th July 2015.
During the course of the search of the car a firearm and ammunition(subject to ballistic examination) were discovered. A male 53 years was arrested and is detained at Dundalk Garda station under the provisions of section 30 Offences Against the State Act 1939 as amended.
