This investigation has been ongoing for some time and this phase of the operation is to gather evidence in relation to suspected criminal activity.
As part of an ongoing investigation into organised criminal activity, the Organised Crime Unit, assisted by units from the Emergency Response Unit, Criminal Assets Bureau, Garda Air Support Unit, Garda National Drugs Unit, National Bureau of Criminal Investigations, the Garda Bureau of Fraud Investigation, and local units carried out 30 searches early this morning, Thursday 29th January, 2015 at a number of locations in County Kildare, Dublin, Cork and Louth.
The premises involved included private dwellings and business premises.
In the course of these searches, documentation, computers, cash, two firearms (a shotgun and a handgun), antique furniture and paintings were seized. All the items seized will be subject to a full technical examination.
No arrests were made in the course of this operation and investigations are ongoing.
