Gardaí are investigating all of the circumstances surrounding the death of a woman following an incident in Dun Laoghaire this evening (20/1/2015).
At approximately 5.20pm Gardaí were called to the scene of an incident in a house at Clarinda Park East where a female, aged in her 60's, had sustained an apparent stab wound. She was taken by Ambulance to St. Vincent’s University Hospital where she was pronounced dead a short time later.
A male aged in his 30's was arrested at the scene and is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Dun Laoghaire Garda Station.
The scene is preserved for a forensic and technical examination and the Office of State Pathologist has been notified.
